After reading terrible reviews for other chinese places in the area I decided to try here because it seemed to the best of the bunch. I was not disappointed, solid good chinese food. Quick delivery time, only 20min! its a little more expensive then some of the other places around, my green beans ended up being $10, but it was worth it for the quality.

My go-to Chinese place - it's not Chinatown but it is very solid for takeout.

Most disgusting Chinese food. Avoid it

Soup dumplings were great, but the kung pao chicken lunch special was inedible! Disgusting!

Best soup dumpling delivery ever. Seriously ordered 3 times in one week. F-ing delicious. Dan Dan noodles are also great... I was nervous to try them but they are very good, if you're considering them just go for it.

Really good. All of my soup dumplings were still full and hot when the food arrived and chicken with garlic sauce was flavorful and spicy and didn't have a gross corn starchy consistency like some other places in the neighborhood. I hate gloopy sauce but this was legit. Wonton soup actually had some flavor too-shocking. Will definitely be ordering again

Decent Chinese food however they only get the order right 50% of the time. I asked for pork fried rice, they gave me chicken. I asked for fried dumplings, they gave me steamed.

Food is consistently above average. Delivery is prompt and accurate. This has become my "go to" place for chinese food.

Scallion pancakes came without sauce, sesame chicken was iffy at best. I would not reorder.

Consistently great food and extremely fast delivery. The Lamb with Cumin Flavor is the best!

Solid take out place, tho the lack of fried rice for the lunch special makes the fat kid inside sad.

I used to order from here quite often and I really liked it, but today I had a horrible experience. The won ton soup tasted old and reheated, and only two dumplings were given. I'm thankful for that however, because they were completely raw. I bit into a dumpling and started retching because the pork was completely slippery and raw. I pray I don't get food poisoning. The chicken was particularly horrible this time. The sauce was off and like the dumplings, the chicken was undercooked and spoiled, for it was mostly gummy and slippery meat that fell apart if you even poked it with a fork. I am very disappointed because I used to order from here all the time, but never again.

Ok Chinese food. Used to like it a lot but now the quality has decreased.

Good Chinese food outside of Chinatown with fast delivery. This place is better than the other Chinese takeouts we have tried.
Tried the steamed whole fish today, even got the thumbs up from my grandma who is an awesome cook.

Pretty authentic regional food for the area, not just your usual Chinese restaurant, this is a good one.
Posted 6 months ago by cindy j.
Delivery was slow but worth it - great DanDan noodles!
Posted 6 months ago by Jen I.
I was hoping this place would be pretty authentic, but unfortunately its very generic american-chinese food and I really wasn't a fan. My chicken dish was soaked in sauce and way too salty. Also I indicated I wanted "spicy" but it was barely so, for a sichuan place I would've expected more.
Posted 6 months ago by Laura K.
Twice cooked pork was freaking tasty. I was a little worried because they hide their B rating behind their sidewalk menu stand, but super delish! I enjoyed dinner and it was delivered pretty quickly.
Posted 7 months ago by Jim B.
If only I could give negative stars. Not only was the food terrible, but I ordered #51, the Spicy broccoli with CHICKEN. There was NO CHICKEN. Absolutely none. Not even a little. And the "broccoli" was 90% just stems. When I placed a call to notify the restaurant (surely must've been confused?), they said they could give me a free soda next time I order. What?! Too bad there will not be a next time. They should've replaced my meal. Unacceptable. Never again!

Chinese places can be super risky but this place is very good! I've only had chicken and broccoli and general tso's but both are some of the best I've had in the city for a fast delivery spot! Pretty fast delivery too at around 7pm.

Can i give NEGATIVE stars?! This food was disgusting and the delivery man was nasty. How hard is it to mess up chinese food?! seriously!? Greasiest food I have ever tasted and seen. Literally a pile of grease at the botom of my fried rice. I got steamed veggies and shrimp and that was rather appalling.
i will NEVER order from here ever again! STAY AWAY!

I have given Great Sichuan 3 and 4 star ratings in the past. Delivery speed is consistently good, but food has been irregular, sometimes overpowered with MSG, sometimes too little meat or chicken to support the dish. But last night the Dan Dan Noodles (a dish that is generally done reasonably well) I received were just plain disgusting. They looked and tasted like someone decided to heat up some cold sichuan noodles and send them instead of making what I ordered. After tasting them, remixing and tasting them again, straight to the trash. The rest of my large order ranged from okay to okay plus, but was not close to good enough to overcome the awful noodles. Cafe China from now on for my Sichuan fix.
Posted 10 months ago by David C.
Delivery times are grossly under estimated. Ordered at 7:30PM and didn't have food in hand until after 9PM. Took two calls to the restaurant to find out where it was, and it was cold when finally received.
Posted 11 months ago by Hannah W.
Food was not fresh, and the flavor was way too strong compared to other chinese restaurants. The delivery man was extremely rude. And I can't stress this one enough. I have been ordering diner from various places and this was my worst experience ever; so bad, in fact, that compelled me to review my order, which I don't normally do.

This was the third time i've ordered from this place. I don't know why I keep making the same mistake... It's not HORRIBLE, but it's quality/taste relative to what's around it is very low

No sauce with scallion pancakes and no rice with entrees. I've never not gotten rice!

This was one of my favorite places. BUT I just ordered my favorite guilty pleasure dish - scallion pancakes - and there was no dipping sauce! I called to tell them they left it out but they said the manager decided to stop including the sauce 2 weeks ago. It's like a tiny container - why would they stop including it? It costs them nothing... Scallion pancakes without dipping sauce are like fries without ketchup!

Got a call 10mins after ordering saying they were out of scallion pancakes. OK, well first, what kind of Chinese restaurant runs out of a staple like scallion pancakes? Annoying, but whatever. So I asked the woman who called to cancel them and send the rest, she tells me no that's impossible, I HAVE to order a substitute. Listen, this isn't my first time on seamless lady, no, I don't, we both know quite well you can call seamless and they'll happily take it off the bill. Either you're being lazy, or more likely, you just want the extra $5. Frustrated by these shenanigans I tell her to cancel the whole thing then. She again replies she can't, and again, we both know very well she can. So I tell her not to send it and call seamless myself to cancel it. Of course seamless asks why it's me calling and not the restaurant, so I explain to them it was Great Sichuan playing silly games. Upon hearing this the woman tells me the restaurant is very well aware of the protocol and promptly calls and chews them out with me on the line.
I can understand running out of something, I can't understand screwing over your customers. It always shocks me, given how competitive the NYC restaurant business is, the nonsense some of these places will engage in out of laziness or just for an extra few dollars. Here's a tip: 250 restaurants deliver to my apartment, you need my money a lot more than I need your food.

The scallion pancakes and moo shu were both exceedingly bland. Maybe need to try more of the Sichuan items next time. Grand Sichuan on St. Marks is better, in my opinion.

poor quality food...... do not recommend
Posted 2 years ago by Denise r.
Food arrived in 15 minutes even though the estimated delivery time was 30-45 minutes, and it tastes great! I got the sesame chicken with white rice and sweet sticky rice ball soup. The chicken was moist and the sauce tasted exactly right for sesame chicken. The soup was a bit bland, but I'm not sure if that was the way it is supposed to be. Either way, it was a good meal that arrived quickly.

With Jess's Bakery closed (my number one Chinese food joint in the area), we opted to order from this place. The food was delivered quick, however it was not very good at all. We ordered the chicken lo mein and double cooked pork, both of which were EXTREMELY greasy and just not very appetizing. I'm not one to complain about food being "greasy," but we this stuff was soaked. We'll look elsewhere next time. Not recommended.

Best chinese food in gramercy! The red cooked pork has such an amazing flavor. I wish it was a little less fatty, but it is made with pork belly. The pork soup dumplings are great and not too heavy. I want to try more from here! The wonton soup was a little too salty for my taste.

Holy crap this was delivered FREAKISHLY fast. I mean, they were at my door in 15 minutes. Not sure how that's even possible, but it happened.
The food was as you would expect for the food to be if it was delivered in 15 minutes. It was Chinese...the kind you see in movies. It doesn't taste GREAT, unless you're hungover. Which I was. So it was good. The hot and sour soup was whatever, and the vegetarian roll wasn't anything special but the General Tso's was pretty decent. Eating the leftovers right now...hours later...and it's totally still good.

The food itself was very good, but I will never order from Great Sichuan again. The delivery came in a good amount of time and I began eating. Ten minutes later, a different delivery man showed up and tried to deliver a duplicate of my earlier order. I explained to him the best that I could (though he didn't speak English) that I had already received my food. He was nice enough and left. Five minutes later I got a call from someone at Great Sichuan who was screaming at me for turning away the food. I explained to him over and over again that I had only ordered once, and I received the delivery twice. I signed one of the receipts, but sent the other receipt and the duplicate food away. I told him to check the receipts. He continued yelling. I couldn't understand what he was saying and he eventually hung up. I'm waiting to see if I am somehow charged twice for their mistake. I will never, ever order from them again and will strongly encourage my friends to avoid Great Sichuan.

This place was not good at all. I'm confused why had a high rating. I've never reviewed on seamless web but I felt the need this time. I ordered the general tso's chicken and it had absolutely no flavor or spice. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for your chinese food.
Posted 3 years ago by Drew C.
Well, you get a lot of food for the money, but it's not very good. The orange beef though spicy was very fatty; sauce greasy. The pork chow fun had very little pork and what there was of it was fatty. I asked for no bean sprouts in it, and although, my request was accommodated, I got about ten onions in their place. This was not the worst Chinese food we've had in the neighborhood, but we will not be ordering again.

This place is exceptional. Probably one of the best places for SZ food in the city. The owner is a great guy and the staff provides great service. Make sure you let them know if you don't want your food too spicy because they can create some SUPER HOT stuff.

great sichuan is my new favorite neighborhood chinese restaurant! the menu and food quality is the most similar to what i experienced abroad in Shanghai, and is flavorful yet clean.
Posted 3 years ago by Kate B.
Sichuan specialties are authentic, meaning extremely spicy and flavorful. If you enjoy Sichuan cooking, you will love this restaurant. The negative reviews on this site are clearly from ignorant Americans that aren't aware that true Sichuan flavor is supposed to be pungent, spicy and in many cases tongue numbing (thanks to the Chinese peppercorns). The well name sums it up well. Great Sichuan!

My family is from the Sichuan province in China and as such, I have been looking forever for an actually good authentic Sichuan restaurant. I've finally found it! Great Sichuan serves amazing authentic Sichuan food and then some.
What I ordered:
Pork Soup Dumplings: These were much much better than what I expected. They were very good - Not as great as Joe's Shanghai but pretty damn close.
Sichuan Wontons with Red Oil: Awesome! Super authentic. Definitely didn't skimp on the peppers. They also used the right amount of sugar to tame the heat.
Spicy Beef Stew Noodles: This was awesome too! Also came with a lot of very tender beef. Very authentic.
Sweet Rice Ball Soup: These were great as well. The rice balls had sweet black sesame paste in them.
And as a final note, I know some people commented on how spicy the food is. Sichuan province is known for having some of the world's spiciest food so... it's actually a good thing this restaurant can serve spicy food (many restaurants skimp on the red peppers but this restaurant doesn't). I'd suggest that you order the food as "spicy" if you are okay eating jalapenos straight out of a jar, otherwise stick with the default "mild" option.
I'd definitely fully recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates good food!

This is not a branch of GRAND Sichuan! A poor replacement mistake I won't make again. Food was not good and my spiciness got upped in the order (it's correct on my SW confimation). Spicy ended up extra spicy -- and not edible. A huge and expensive disappointment.

I'll give any place a shot once, but steer clear of this new gramercy place. Almost inedible.

I have lived in this neighborhood for 8 years and have been waiting for a good chinese restaurant to open and this one is great! Great food, fast and friendly service. So happy I have somewhere near by to go when I'm craving real chinese food. Try the pork soup dumplings, they are amazing!

Perhaps it's a reflection of how boring my life is, but stumbling tonight upon this newcomer to Seamless gave me incredible joy. I was happy to plow through a meal of gui zhou spicy chicken and wontons in hot oil, while soaking through my tshirt in my poorly air conditioned studio (the shirt eventually came off for the last part of the meal, as the heat became overwhelming -- that's just how I roll). The wontons were porky and slick in a crimson bath. The chicken arrived piping hot, studded with thickly sliced scallions, bamboo shoots, and hot peppers. Generous portions, pleasant and quick delivery (arrived in 15 minutes). Will definitely order from here soon -- sichuan menu appears extremely authentic. Great Sichuan!
